Benefits of Humane Education

Mio Reggio believes in the power of humane education in the early education years.  There are so many opportunities in both the class and home setting to help children contribute as a social citizen, whether it be raising money for a local shelter, making cards for senior citizens, planting trees, cleaning a park, or building a birdhouse – the effects are boundless.

Humane Education empowers young children to develop more compassion and understanding of others’ lives and perspectives.  It also promotes social-emotional skills as children develop self-confidence when they can take action and actively participate in their community.

As adults, we shape the way children perceive the world. When we teach children to respect and value others, we are setting them up for a future in which they are better prepared to engage with important issues that they will face.
